In general, garter snakes can range in size from 18 to 24 inches, though some have been found to measure up to 42 inches in length!

These critters are quite docile, and will generally do their best to avoid humans. They are not dangerous to humans or pets, and they can serve as a form of natural pest control in gardens and yards, as previously mentioned.
